Hi All

I've just joined this forum as I am looking at the possibility of moving from the Islands to the mainland and L'Ametlla de Mar has my attention.

I am wondering what it is like there in the winter, I LOVE the quiet life, but don't want to live in a ghost town during the winter months. Are bars/restaurants/shops etc open there ?

Also, are there many English people living there?

Any info gratefully received

Sharron

Hi Sharron,

we have just brought a house in Gilet, between L’Ametlla de Mar and El Perello.  We stayed there this February and both the town and the village were quite active, most, if not all, bars, shops and restaurants were open.

Not so sure about English speakers, we have encountered a few, but have only been there a few times in the last few months (we move out full time in May).

It’s quite a busy area for locals, so you don’t need to worry about being in a ‘ghost town’

We have just sold in Ibiza and bought in an urbanisation (Via Marina) just outside Miami. We will not be living here but spending our regulation 180 days. We looked at L'ametlla and really liked the area but just didn't find exactly what we wanted.  Good luck. We were warned off l'Ampolla by another ex pat who said that definitely became a ghost town in the winter. The hardest thing to get our heads around was the difference in size! We had to drop a friend off in Tarragona - 30 minutes from Perello de Mar by car. The train.....strange is all I can say 🤣 We used Spanishouse in Miami eventually but scoured Greenacres, Idealistic etc.
