I have visited several police stations to secure a residents card (green card). So far I have been told I need to go to a different police station and I am going around in circles.

At the last police station in Reus I was told I need to go to Tarragona (Rambla Lluis Companys I think) but I need to make an online appointment before I go.

I spent most of my evening trying to find a link to make an appointment without success.

Do you know where this link is or do you know anybody that can help me?

Hi Rosalynd,

Thank you very much for the link. That was very helpful :)

Do you also know which version of form 790 I need (so far I have downloaded 790-02, 790-06, 790-26 and 790-52?

TIA

It's ok! I've got it :)

For anybody else who comes across this thread the document you need is form 790-012.

In Salou (Tarragona province) you also need the following:

  1. The appointment (made over the internet
  2. The form EX18 that you can download from the internet
  3. Passport
  4. Informe de vida laboral – If you have a digital certificate it can be downloaded on the internet
  5. Form 790
  6. Proof of payment 790 i.e. stamped by the bank

Town Hall Registration – not longer than 3 months

Hope that helps

Hi

I obtained a residency permit for my wife and I in August this year, we had to go to the police station in Reus and you do need to an appointment before you go.

There are a suite of documents to collate together too including health insurance.

The permit available is an EU resident permit which is just a piece of paper, doesn't look much but does the job and doesn't expire (may need upgrading if we leave the EU..not sure)

The non EU residents permit is a card, like an ID card, with a photo on it ( no photo on the EU one ) and for a non EU permit you need to prove financial means to support yourself.

I was helped by David Ruiz who specialises in this area, he can either advise or for a fee will arrange everything for you, you can read his advice and do it yourself but will almost certainly need to be able to speak Spanish to navigate through the beurocracy.

I have attached a link which may be helpful.

Good luck.

Ian

Hi Ian,

That's helpful, although when I went to the Reus police station they said I had to go to Tarragona. Just my bad luck I guess.

I had my appointment with the police in Tarragona with assistance from Montse at https://expatrelocationservices.com/ at no charge.

Unfortunately, I couldn't prove I had health insurance in Spain, but the nice police officer told me everything else was in place so just arrange health insurance and go back without an appointment.

As I am an autonomo (freelancer) I just contacted my accountment who had just finalised my registration. She sent through my health insurance number, so quick trip back to the cop shop and should get me my Tarjeta de Identidad de Entranjera (Green Card).

Will head to Tarragona tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

It depends on where you live which police station you have to go to. As you live in Salou you have to go to Tarragona as you have found out already,  people that live in Cambrils go to Reus. Good luck for ton
