Hi Guys,

I've just made an offer on a small apartment in Cambrils. I now need to open a Spanish bank account, transfer over lots of sterling, and arrange for a bankers' draft.

I just walked in off the street with my passport in my hand and thought it would be a simple matter to open a bank account. Wrong!

They were talking about income tax statements, pension letters and all sorts of things. This is sad as I will be flying back tomorrow. I will now have to schedule another trip, just to open bank account.

Unless anybody knows of a way of opening a bank account online? Has anybody any horror stories with particular banks?

Thanks in advance

Hi Des, I've been with Sabadell for fifteen years and they have never let me down. It's on Rambla Jaume.

Thanks Vincent,

Currently it's a toss up between Sabadell and Deutsche Bank. It was Sabadell that 'turned me down' last time but if I'm honest with myself I think I was probably too close to siesta time.

I plan to return on Friday 31st March and have another try.
