Can anyone tell me when "NIE" ID regime came in and the name of a good local English speaking lawyer who can apply for this if you are not in Catalunya at the moment. We have had a house near Torredembarra for 50 years and water supplier is suddenly asking for this? Bankers and electricity have not. Thanks

I can recommend Vahusari in Tarragona. They are a big firm who are lawyers and tax specialists as well as having other specialities. I use a guy called Marc Vallve. They are situated on the Rambla Nova in the centre of Tarragona 0034 977 22 89 12. As it's August some of the team maybe on holiday.
Another company is Eshkeri & Grau, also very good but a little expensive. They have two offices one in London (0044 020 3478 1420) and the other in Tarragona (0034 977 249 960)

I can thoroughly recommend Javier ( details below ) He used to work for a law firm in Torredembarra but has now set up on his own. He handled our recent house purchase. He a really nice guy and loves practicing his English.
