Hi everyone

Thank you for creating this and opening it to me.

I am from long island NY. I've been here now a week. I stayed in Sitges up till today and I'll be in.Calafell for the next 5 days before I head back home.

I'm approaching retirement and considering retiring here as this area seems to have a lot of what I appreciate. I love beach towns and the ocean or in this case the Mediterranean, i enjoy bike riding, Healthcare here seems from.what I've heard to be much better than in.the US and less expensive and general cost of living here seems quite a bit.less expensive than on long Island too.

Sitges is lovely but a little out of my price range and calafell was recommended to me as another great town but less expensive.than Sitges.

So I am attempting to navigate visa applications, finding real estate either rented or purchased and any other obstacles that might present themselves that I'm not fully aware of.

I have a 25 year old daughter who was here with me while I was in Sitges and she also is potentially.interested in.moving here too but less sure of that than I am.

Can anyone recommend a good source for visa help? My visa needs go off into several possible directions. I still work for a large conglomerate back on long Island and I know they don't want me to leave. I am exploring the possibility of suggesting to them if they have interest in me maintaining a relationship with them that I semi retire and seek a digital nomad visa. I would probably suggest to them that we could arrange occasional trips back so that I could help them with their hands on needs. They may however have no interest in this in which case I would want to pursue a non lucrative visa. I've researched the requirements for that and believe I have what's needed. Now on top of that as i.mentioned my daughter also has interest in coming here. Less so than me but that might change when she fully realizes the current political climate innthe US. She would potentially be interested in.a student visa to get her masters or a visa that would allow her to work. I know as a resident on a non lucrative visa you can bring dependents but income requirements go up. I believe that wouldn't be a problem for me either but I don't know what restrictions might be on that. So I really need someone who understands well the possibilities here and can provide me with some good direction.

In terms of real estate. I have a home on long Island that I intend on putting on the market soon. The market there is very short on housing opportunities so I imagine it could move relatively fast. I'm not sure how to proceed here. Part of me thinks I should rent a year to get a better idea of everything here but I am also open to buying either a house or a flat. I was just in.a flat in sitges center and was taken aback with how NOT noise suppressing the construction was. I understand that a high percentage of spainish flats are that way. I also understand newer construction may be.lacking in.the kind of quality older construction had..I liked being in.the center of sitgis and being able to walk everywhere. But I understand that a house purchase would alleviate the noise issue and provide me with a few other potential things I'd like. I'd like a garage because I have a motorcycle I'd like to ship over here. The down side.of a house.i guess is it wouldn't necessarily be in.walking distance of the town.

So Im rambling! I'm doing this mostly.alone as I'm single and I have a lot.to navigate. I've been very unhappy with my job for the past several years and also very unhappy with the direction the country was moving in. My unhappiness with that is now off the charts with everything going on there and I'm very anxious to do this as soon as I am.able.

I'd very much appreciate any suggestions anyone has for helping me to navigate this.

Thanks!
